Michael is also a founding partner of the firm. Michael is a registered CPA and has worked in the Accounting profession since 1983.
Michael’s philosophy is to take a proactive approach in his work with clients and to help them to build wealth by having effective planning and strategy in place. “I enjoy analysing our client’s circumstances and suggesting procedures or strategies that boost their profitability,” says Michael.
Michael offers taxation, accounting and business planning and advice to a diverse range of clients including professionals, manufacturers, retailers, real estate professionals and wholesalers. Michael acts for local, interstate and international clients.
“The interaction I have with my clients is one of the most satisfying parts of my work,” he says. “We have a real sense of partnership with clients here. Our experience helping a broad range of business owners has built up a really valuable knowledge base in our practice – all of which we can apply to help our clients prosper.”
Michael holds the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Commerce
- Fellow Certified Practising Accountant
- Registered Tax Agent
- Member of the National Tax Agents Association.
Michael is an active business networker with memberships with Business Network International (BNI), Rotary International and Hermandad De La Costa, an International group with a passion for boats and the sea. Michael has held roles as President in both BNI and Rotary, and is currently serving as a member of the Rotary District 9750 Finance Committee. Michael is also Chairman of Thorndale Foundation, a charity that supports adults with an intellectual disability. “These activities have helped me build a huge network of contacts all around Australia as well as overseas,” he says.
His strong connections in the business world as well as the broader community mean he is well placed to connect his clients with other people where there may be a mutual benefit. “I’ve enjoyed being able to help solve a problem for my clients by introducing them to someone I know who can help them. Networking has been invaluable to me and to our practice,” he says.
Michael enjoys getting away for riding trips on his motorbike with his partner, Suzi. “We’ve discovered some fascinating parts of the country and met some really interesting people along the way,” says Michael.
Michael also has a grown up daughter, Anna, who is currently studying at university and working within the commercial real estate environment.
An enthusiastic Wests Tigers supporter, one of Michael’s favourite memories is of the time he watched them win the 2005 NRL grand final, with daughter Anna. “It was a fantastic, edge-of-your-seat win in front of 80,000 people at Telstra stadium,” he says. “And of course it’s much more fun when you’re barracking for the winning team.”
