The Western Sydney Regional Advisory Council (RAC) is a committee that is part of the Business NSW’s state-wide network.
Business NSW was formerly The NSW Business Chamber – it is the peak pro-business organisation in New South Wales.
The RAC meets regularly throughout the year its aim is to raise concepts that will lead to innovative projects and programs that improve and sustain business performance in the region.
The RAC is also responsible for highlighting issues that are affecting business in the region and having these escalated to the Business NSW.
“As the peak body, Business NSW advocates for the needs of businesses to key decision makers at local, state and federal government levels and also the media,” says Michael Mekhitarian.
“Essentially, each of the RAC’s throughout New South Wales play a vital role in being an effective conduit of communication between what’s happening at a ‘grassroots’ level in business, and those in positions of authority who are making decisions.
Ultimately, it leads to greater cooperation between government and business,” says Michael.
“This is an honour for me, and an important chance to give back to the business community that has supported ATB Partners since we first opened our doors nearly 30 years ago,” says Michael. “It is a role I’m excited to be taking on, particularly as business faces the very challenging times ahead moving forward with Covid-19,” he says.
“Small business has an important role to play in pulling Australia out of post-pandemic recession, and rebuilding a robust economy, and it’s critical that business needs are both heard and understood at government levels so that business can get the support they need in the critical period ahead,” he says.
